Wells Energy Development is a California-based firm focused on deploying on-site energy, electrification, and infrastructure. We provide comprehensive support across project stages, including due diligence, site development, engineering, construction, financing, and operations. Our goal is to help clients seamlessly integrate clean energy solutions into their assets with a focus on reliability, cost efficiency, and long-term performance.
With over 30+ years of combined industry experience, our team has delivered more than 300 solar, storage, and distributed energy projects totaling over a quarter-billion dollars in client investment. We work with commercial, industrial, and public sector clients, offering solar, battery storage, EV charging, and other distributed energy resource solutions. By combining technical depth with practical execution, Wells Energy Development ensures each project moves efficiently from concept to commercial operation.

Meet the team
Wells’ team is founded by Spencer Wells and John Bruce, who have a proven track record in all facets of the renewable energy industry. From sales, business development, contracting, financing, boots on the ground construction, and project oversight, our team has deep rooted experience in the cornerstones of what makes on-site energy deployments successful.
With decades of combined experience, our team has worked across various sectors of the industry with founding roots in a California EPC business in 2008. Having since worked for various large IPPs and upstart energy ventures, we have built relationships with industry partners and asset owners that know how to deliver.
Collectively, we have brought more than $100M+ in behind the meter energy projects to commercial operation with a diverse skillset of project origination, due diligence, engineering, underwriting, construction, and asset management.
